Frozen

The disappearance of a little girl sets in motion a slow convergence of three lives: those of an English housewife, an American criminal psychologist, and an unrepentant serial killer. The play takes us to the heart of evil to ask, can we forgive the unthinkable? Striking is the dramatic use Lavery makes of her central metaphor. Agnetha, the psychologist, who views serial killing as a form of illness rather than of evil, talks of “the frozen arctic sea that is the criminal brain.” Intelligent, chilling and even humorous, Frozen is a startling investigation of mercy and forgiveness.
